What is Madrecuixe?
Madrecuixe (sometimes spelled ‚ÄúMadre Cuishe‚Äù or ‚ÄúMadrecuixe‚Äù) is a truly special agave variety in the mezcal world.
  • Botanical family: Agave karwinskii
  • Habitat: Grows wild in the hills and mountains of Oaxaca, especially in the Central Valleys.
  • Can take 12 to 18 years to mature‚Äîmuch longer than Espad√≠n which matures in 6‚Äì8 years.  Huge difference
Wild and Rare
  • Usually wild-harvested, which means it's not farmed, which makes it much more scarce
  • The wild nature means no two batches are exactly alike.  Very terroir driven
