Premier Cru Louis Jadot Beaune for a Song

Louis Jadot has long been one of my favorite producers of Premier Cru Beaune. For more than 20 years, I’ve bought Jadot’s Beaune 1er Cru Clos des Ursules for both the shop and my own cellar. It’s a benchmark bottle for me—and one I’ve happily recommended countless times over the years.

Unfortunately, Clos des Ursules has now climbed well into triple-digit territory. That makes today’s offer particularly exciting.

We were able to grab the last 15 cases in the state of Louis Jadot 2023 Beaune 1er Cru, and at under $60 a bottle, this may be one of the best Burgundy buys we’ve seen in quite some time.

This bottling brings together fruit from 12 different Premier Cru vineyards in Beaune, giving it a wonderful snapshot of the appellation rather than the expression of a single vineyard. The 2023 vintage was warm and generous, and that shows beautifully here. The wine is already drinking extremely well, with ripe red fruit, classic Burgundy earthiness, spice, and a silky, inviting texture.

That immediate drinkability is part of what makes this bottle so appealing. You get genuine Premier Cru Burgundy from one of the region’s most respected producers without having to wait years for it to come around—or spend $100+ to get there.

Premier Cru Beaune. Louis Jadot. Under $60.

In today’s Burgundy market, that combination is becoming awfully hard to find.

And with just 15 cases available, this one probably won’t be around for long.
