For those in the know, Domaine Saint-Damien has quietly been one of Gigondas’ most consistent overachievers. Despite a track record of producing some of the region’s most elegant and expressive wines, they remain under the radar—something savvy Rhône lovers have long taken advantage of.
Great estates make compelling wines in any vintage—but in benchmark years, they transcend. The 2023 Southern Rhône vintage is shaping up to be one of those moments, and Domaine Saint-Damien has delivered across the board.
Today, we’re excited to offer a full lineup of 2023 Gigondas from Saint-Damien—wines that are nothing short of electric. Quantities are tight, demand is high, and while we secured as much as possible, we don’t expect these to last long.
For those in the know, Domaine Saint-Damien has quietly been one of Gigondas’ most consistent overachievers. Despite a track record of producing some of the region’s most elegant and expressive wines, they remain under the radar—something savvy Rhône lovers have long taken advantage of.
The Saurel family has farmed here since 1821, tending just over 12 hectares of predominantly old vines in Gigondas. Yields are kept low, farming is meticulous, and élevage remains traditional: large concrete vats and well-seasoned foudres. The wines are typically bottled on the earlier side to preserve freshness and vibrancy—an approach that results in remarkable purity and energy in the glass.
The result? Wines that consistently punch far above their price point—arguably some of the best values in high-end Southern Rhône today.
