FAY Vineyard, established by pioneering grape grower Nathan Fay in 1961, was the first planting of Cabernet Sauvignon in what is now the Stags Leap District AVA. Stag’s Leap Wine Cellars purchased this historic vineyard from Nathan Fay in 1986, and has made a single vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon from this vineyard since the 1990 vintage.

The 2023 Cabernet Sauvignon Fay Vineyard is showing notably better from bottle than it did from barrel. A lovely example of a delicate, finesse-driven Cabernet, it features hints of violets, thyme and sage entwined with ripe black cherries. It's medium- to full-bodied and silky-textured on the palate, with a lingering finish framed by fine-grained tannins.
