Fortunate Son is the passion-driven label of Jayson Woodbridge, the uncompromising force behind Hundred Acre, one of Napa Valley’s most collectible “cult” Cabernet producers. With Fortunate Son, Woodbridge turns his attention to historic, multi-generation family vineyards, some farmed for over 80 years, whose tiny parcels produce deeply expressive, soulful Cabernet fruit. These small sites, often tucked into Napa’s older valley-floor pockets and foothills, are “woven together,” as Woodbridge says, into a wine that captures Napa’s heritage at its most intimate and authentic. The 2021 vintage is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon, crafted with the same meticulous standards that define Hundred Acre. The wine undergoes an extended élevage of 30–32 months in 100% new, ultra-tight grain French oak barriques, made from staves air-dried for three years before coopering. This long aging period polishes the tannins to silk while amplifying richness, concentration, and layered depth. Production remains extremely limited.
