Brash Higgins, a renowned winery in Australia, is celebrated for its innovative approach to winemaking. The GR/M Grenache / Mataro is a blend of Grenache and Mataro (also known as MourvËdre), showcasing the vibrant character of McLaren Vale. This wine is crafted with meticulous attention to detail, employing traditional fermentation techniques and aging in a combination of old oak barrels to enhance its complexity. The result is a wine with a rich flavor profile, featuring notes of ripe red berries, earthy undertones, and a hint of spice. The tannins are well-integrated, providing a smooth and balanced finish. This wine pairs beautifully with grilled meats, hearty stews, and aged cheeses.

Professional Scores

91

At first sniff, this blend of Grenache and Mataro/Mourvèdre from the relatively cool climes of Blewitt Springs is an intensely spicy, perfumed number that will divide your dinner party guests. But give this time open in the bottle or glass and it turns the volume down on itself. Mulling spices, cracked pepper and licorice root are still at the fore, but raspberry and rose petal are jostling for attention. In this, one of the lightest of winemaker Brad Hickey's reds, the palate is juicy with a cocktail bitters vibe and a gently tannic bite. Light years away from boring.
