Benanti is a renowned winery located on the slopes of Mount Etna in Sicily, Italy. The Benanti Contrado Monte Serra is crafted from the Nerello Mascalese grape, a varietal indigenous to the region, known for its elegance and complexity. The Monte Serra vineyard is situated on the southern slopes of Etna, benefiting from volcanic soils and a unique microclimate that imparts distinct mineral characteristics to the wine. The winemaking process involves careful fermentation and aging in oak barrels, which enhances the wine's structure and depth. The flavor profile is marked by red fruit notes, a vibrant acidity, and a refined tannin structure, making it an excellent pairing with grilled meats, aged cheeses, and hearty pasta dishes.

Professional Scores

92

Medicinal cherry, camphor, cedar and flint float over fuller fruit notes of prune and dried figs on the nose. The palate is still leaning toward figs and plums but with some high tones of hibiscus, cranberries and fresh cherry. Tannins just starting to give in a bit and bouncy acid tie everything together in loose bow.
