The 1896-planted vines at Nervo Ranch produced one of the most complete wines of the lovely 2024 vintage. Farmed organically using no-till practices on steep, decomposed shale slopes just south of Geyserville, the Nervo Heritage is a wine of both perfume and power. A complex field blend of over 17 grape varieties, the second-most prevalent here is the peppery, violet-scented Negrette, followed by Grenache, Trousseau Noir, Alicante Bouschet, and Petite Sirah. Deeply colored, the wine shows notes of blackberry, cracked black pepper, and a touch of complexing herbs—almost like a drop of Peychaud’s bitters. Among Nervo vintages, this one is notably more approachable in its youth.

The 2024 Nervo Ranch Heritage Wine is an incredibly distinctive wine, largely because of the complexity of a field blend that includes 17 varieties. The lifted, articulate bouquet is immediately alluring. Brilliant red-toned fruit, chalk, mint and white pepper are beautifully sculpted.
