Perrin Gigondas La Gille 2023

. Original price: . Final price: $39.99

Famille Perrin’s involvement in the wine trade can be traced back to 1909, when Pierre Traminer bought the Château de Beaucastel and then transferred it to his son-in-law Pierre Perrin, a scientist who further developed Beaucastel. His son, Jacques, continued his father’s efforts and continued to expand the family’s holdings until 1978. Today, Jacques’s sons Jean-Pierre and François run the business with the fifth generation of the family—Marc, Pierre, Thomas, Cécile, Charles, Matthieu, and César.

Crafted from equal parts estate-grown and purchased fruit, the 2023 Gigondas La Gille reveals a gourmand, subtly reductive bouquet of spices, dark wild berries and garrigue. Medium- to full-bodied, juicy and sappy, it’s precise and layered with velvety tannins that carry through to a long, penetrating finish.

In spite of the richness and full body, this is an elegant expression of Gigondas, thanks to the expertly crafted tannins. Beautiful creamy texture in the long, complete finish. There's plenty of spice, but it’s like a tapestry of colors rather than a blast of heat. Drink or hold
