Pahlmeyer is a renowned winery located in the Napa Valley, known for producing exceptional Bordeaux-style blends. The Pahlmeyer Red is a meticulously crafted wine that showcases a blend of classic Bordeaux varietals, predominantly Cabernet Sauvignon, with Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot, and Malbec. This wine hails from the prestigious Napa Valley region, where the unique terroir contributes to its complexity and depth. The winemaking process involves careful fermentation and aging in French oak barrels, which imparts a rich texture and subtle oak nuances. The flavor profile is characterized by lush dark fruit notes, such as blackberry and plum, complemented by hints of chocolate, spice, and well-integrated tannins. This wine pairs beautifully with hearty dishes like grilled steak, lamb, or aged cheeses.

This gentle giant is the original Pahlmeyer red, first made in 1986. It’s always cabernet sauvignon dominant, and this year is 89%, plus 9% merlot and dashes of malbec and petit verdot. Lush with fruit and subtle spices, packed with blackcurrant, spearmint, cocoa and graphite flavors that swell on the palate and linger on the finish. So layered, intricate, supple and well structured for long aging. Drinkable now, but best from 2028.
