Weathereye Estate Cabernet Sauvignon 2021

. Original price: . Final price: $121.99

92% Cabernet Sauvignon | 5% Merlot | 3% Cabernet Franc

Sourced from 3 separate high-density, multi-clonal blocks planted on both the south and north slopes with elevations ranging from 960 ft to 1,180 ft. Fermented in stainless steel and concrete, then aged 22 months in 75% new French oak barriques without pressing.

Located at the top of Red Mountain, with the elevation providing a cooling effect; WeatherEye carefully selects clones, which are then planted in small-blocks. This strategic placement, coupled with a diverse array of trellising methods, is designed to extend the grapes hang time and maturation period. The result is a harvest that boasts not only intensified flavors but also a notable freshness and an array of non-fruit characteristics. WeatherEye has changed what is possible in Washington winemaking and is producing some of the best wines in the World.

Professional Scores

A dark, brooding purple and blue core with a lighter purple garnet rim in the glass. A wine that needs time in the glass to really shine, it started off with notes of crushed blackberries, cassis, cedary herbs, pencil shavings, scraped vanilla bean, ground peppercorn, and sweet spice. Aggressive tannins need some time to soften, but even now, it’s drinking beautifully with the mouthwatering acidity and layered texture that hits the palate and doesn’t let go. Bravo! Highly recommended and editor’s choice.

The 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon WeatherEye Estate opens with a balsamic tinge, mixing enriching notes of plum sauce, grilled herbs and crushed raspberries. It's round and supple, with juicy acidity propelling masses of dark red fruits. The 2021 tapers off crunchy and long, leaving a primary staining of wild berries, and fine-grained tannins that promise many years of positive development.
