Col di Lamo Brunello di Montalcino 2021

. Original price: . Final price: $59.99

The vineyards at Col di Lamo until recently made up half of the original Casanova di Neri estate until brother/sister Giacomo and Gianna Neri split their family property in two after the unexpected passing of Giovanni Neri in 1991. Giacomo kept the Casanova di Neri name, and Gianna and her daughter make wine under the Col di Lamo label.

This ultra-pretty Brunello shows off a medley of subtle and expressive fruit, offering sour cherry, red currant, and wild plum, alongside notes of rosemary, orange peel, cedar, and dried rose. On the palate, it is medium-bodied and firmly structured, with vibrant acidity and finely textured tannins supporting flavors of red cherry, tea leaf, anise, and forest floor. The clay-limestone soils contribute a distinct mineral tension through the mid-palate. The finish is long, dry, and persistent, marked by tobacco, dried herbs and pure fruit.

Subtle and complex aromas of red cherries, roses and orange peel follow through to a medium body with ultra-fine tannins that caress you palate and deliver beauty and verve. Persistent and caressing. Gorgeous now, but better in 2027. From organically grown grapes. Drink or hold.
