Dieil Pevar Ch’oad (‘four woods’ in Breton) is a balancing of four batches of identical single-malt, each developing its own assertive character after aging full-term in a different barrel type. Here, Lénaïck showcases his skill as a blender—he makes the four “complete” whiskies sing harmoniously, creating a cohesive spirit far greater than its components. The four barrel types in Pevar Ch’oad are: ex-St-Émilion Bordeaux casks, new toasted French oak barrels, highly-charred oak casks, and very old French oak barrels. Like its Dieil siblings, Pevar Ch’oad’s base whisky is composed of 100% locally-grown and -malted Bretagne barley, and is peated to a moderate 35ppm.
