Clos de la Maréchale is the domaine’s southern anchor, a historic monopole in Nuits-Saint-Georges whose return to Mugnier in 2004 transformed both the scale and the arc of the estate.

The tradition of white Clos de la Maréchale had been lost for over fifty years, but a few exceptional bottles found at the bottom of the cellar convinced us to resurrect this rare wine. So, since the 2005 vintage, Clos de la Maréchale has been available in both colours.

The Clos des Fourches comes exclusively from the plot of Clos de la Maréchale, located at the very southern tip of Nuits-Saint-Georges. Frédéric Mugnier has chosen to isolate the young vines (less than 20-25 years old) under this historic name to ensure the excellence of his Premier Cru.

Domaine Jacques-Frederic Mugnier Nuits-St-Georges Clos de la Marechale Premier Cru is a wine that always needs 5 to 10 years of aging before expressing its typically floral character. The bouquet is remarkable and persistent. One finds the aroma of iris mingled with raspberries. Even more so, that of white lilac.
