The 4th and final (for now) in our German/British style Staff Art Series! This one was hand painted by our very own, very talented Joe Alhoff! This ALTBIER - a German style ale - is one of Joe’s favorite styles and he absolutely delivered on the label art here! This ale is clean & smooth, slightly bitter, malty and copper in color. Comes in at 4.4%
What is Altbier?
Altbier is a traditional beer style from Düsseldorf, Germany, whose name means "old beer," referring to the pre-lager brewing method that uses top-fermenting ale yeast. Often described as a hybrid-style beer, Altbier combines the subtle fruitiness and malt complexity of an ale with the clean, crisp finish of a lager through extended cold conditioning. The style is typically copper to amber in color, moderately bitter, and balanced by flavors of toasted bread, nuts, caramel, and light malt sweetness. With a sessionable 4.3–5.5% ABV and exceptional drinkability, Altbier is known for its balance, restraint, and ability to deliver rich flavor without heaviness
