This wine is nearly equal parts Merlot (53%) and Cabernet Franc. The aromas start out reserved—it's almost a strain to get at its notes of spice, plum, herb and cherry. The palate is considerably more giving, showing a pleasing sense of balance and length. Give it some time to open up, and it delivers. SEAN P. SULLIVAN
