This wine consistently makes a compelling case for one of the best under $50 Oregon Pinot Noirs. Winemaker Ben Casteel believes that the entry-point wine is often the most reflective of an estate’s quality, and therefore takes the assemblage of this wine as seriously as any of the others he produces. Earthborn aromatics accentuate the scent of fir tips, sea salt, and a dark, fruity tone. The palate flashes mouthfuls of fresh berries, with great sapidity, notes of turned earth, and serious enough structure to lay down should you choose.

The 2023 Pinot Noir Estate has slowly unfolding scents of rhubarb, blackberry, blood orange, lavender and iron. The medium-bodied palate features concentrated, floral flavors. It’s framed by fine, chalky tannins and vibrant acidity and has a long, nuanced finish. It will benefit from time in a decanter.
