The new 2022 is here!
2022 Horgelus Cotes de Gascogne Rose

35% Merlot
35% Tannat
30% Cabernet Sauvignon

Horgelus Rose is made from grapes that were picked at night. At night the grapes are cooler and lends itself to a much fresher Rose wine. This Rose has an intense and complex bouquet of sweet strawberries, juicy blackcurrants and ends with a thirst-quenching and dry finish. Very fresh and seductive rose. Perfect patio wine! Great wine on its own but also goes well with grilled chicken, salmon and fresh salads.

The pale rosé 2022 Rosé Pinot Noir is delicate and elegant, with moderate alcohol (13.5%) and high acidity. It feels harmonious and nuanced, clean and subtle and reveals vibrant acidity with pungent and fresh flavors. 42,000 bottles produced. It was bottled in July 2022. There are winds of change at Casas del Bosque. They have changed winemaker and have hired Alvaro Espinoza as vineyard consultant (from 2022). I suppose the change in the wines will be gradual in future years and today's offerings feel like a transition.

Great Rose Value!
Blend of Gamay, Grenache, Cinsault
Grapes are harvested when it’s cooler, in fully ripe. Wine making : After destemming, berries are macerated during a few hours, and then are slowly pressed. Then, the derived pressed must is put into thermoregulated stainless steel vats, and fermentation will go on for 10 days or so. Once fermentation is over, wine is matured on lees before bottling.

This rosé wine shows a redcurrant colored robe with light reflections. It has very deep fruit aromas including cherry, raspberry and black berry. Well-structured on the palate, this wine is both nicely full-bodied and delightfully fruity. Wine and food pairing : bbq chicken skewers, paella, pizza and much more.

New 2022 Rose - Dry and full bodied!
Made from a rare grape
2022 Richemer Marselan Rose

A cross between Cabernet Sauvignon and Grenache, Marselan is a varietal few people know about yet is emblematic of the local viticulture. It is used here to create a very nice rosé with a bright aromatic profile of fresh berries and is smooth & balanced on the palate making it the perfect summer companion!   This fruit-forward rosé can accompany an entire meal from pre-dinner drinks through to appetizers like tuna ceviche, main courses like stuffed peppers and with a strawberry tart to finish.  The grapes are harvested early September and quickly pressed. The juice is then separated from the skins as early as possible to achieve the perfect pale pink color. This wine is fermented at low temperatures to preserve its aromatic freshness.

If you like Tavel, try this one!

Cinsault, Syrah, Grenache and Mourvedre
Deeper colored rose and it is also fuller-bodied. Strawberry and blackberry flavors dominate and it is rich and round. It finishes with great length and power, plus a bit of peppery spice. Think of it as an alternative to Tavel. Try this bone dry Rose that can be enjoyed now but will last for 2-3 years and continue to improve.

Bordeaux Rose

75% Cabernet Sauvingon and 25% Merlot
The Lulu is all about the fruit and the balance. On the nose, we have a combination of strawberry, peach and citrus. The well balanced acidity of the wine offers great freshness which makes it perfect to drink for brunch, as an aperitif or on its own.  This wine tastes great on its own or when paired with light main courses such as salads, tapas, vegetable tarts, cheeses and grilled meats & seafood.
Unlike for the red wines, to make the rosé, the grapes have to be harvested earlier to keep more acidity and aromatic expression. The grapes, typically used to make deep colored red wines, have to be pressed as soon as picked to separate the skins from the juice in order to produce a pale and crisp rosé. During the fermentation, the juice has to be maintained at low temperatures for the wine to express maximum freshness.
