Due to its low sugar content, the maguey jabalí is rarely used for mezcal production. It is a type of agave commonly found in the southern highlands of the state of Oaxaca, mainly in dry climates. It grows wild and takes between 15 and 18 years to mature.
Rey Campero Jabali Mezcal Joven is a rare and exquisite expression crafted from wild Jabalí agave, native to the dry, mountainous regions of Oaxaca. Known for its challenging fermentation, Jabalí is expertly tamed by Maestro Mezcalero Rómulo Sánchez Parada using traditional methods—pit roasting, open-air fermentation, and copper still distillation. The result is a bold yet refined mezcal with vibrant aromas of citrus and tropical fruit, layered flavors of orange zest, slate, and earth, and a smooth, smoky finish. Limited in production and rich in character, it’s a true celebration of artisanal craftsmanship and the untamed spirit of Oaxaca.
