Single Vineyard from the heart of the Macon

This single-vineyard Chardonnay is produced in the village of Péronne, in the heart of the Maconnais region in Burgundy, from 40 year-old vines planted on the limestone based soils of the Mount Epin.

A beautiful golden color with green reflections, delicate toasty notes and attractive aromas of citrus and ripe summer fruits combine with floral and honey nuances that are typical of the old vines.
Fresh, ample and full-bodied on the palate, the wine is perfect by itself as an aperitif and delicious during the meal.

In the heart of the central Mâconnais, the Mâcon-Péronne AOC is found on either side of the Bicheron river. The vines on the western slope at Saint-Pierre-de-Lanques run alongside the first plots of Mâcon-Lugny, while to the east, the vines are planted on the first western slope of the Viré-Clessé range.

Elouan 2019 Pinot Noir, Oregon ($22) A buoyant, lightweight palate shows round, plump plum and cherry notes against a backdrop of tobacco and clove. Juicy, with deep, earthy undertones and an uplifting splash of rhubarb, this is a vivid and graceful red. A hint of smoked charcuterie leaves a touch of spice on the finish

This 88-proofer is aged for a minimum of five years. The succulent palate mirrors the nose, with brown-sugared bananas Foster, cedar, and coconut. Cherry and vanilla mark the final flavors present in this liquid gold.

Colour: Vibrant amber-gold.
Nose: Fresh and beautifully light, sherried fruit combined with a tempting spicy sweetness and a hint of sappy oak. 
Flavour: Full bodied, delightful sherried fruit, with oak, a hint of peat and delicious sweet sensations. 
Finish: Long and flavoursome, with a lingering spiceness. 
Comment: An excellent introduction to the distillery style. Glenfarclas means Glen of the Green Grassland, and the freshness on the nose reminds me of grassland in spring. So, for me, this is the ‘farclas’ aroma. In 2006 this was named the ‘Best Sherried Whisky’ in the Single Malt World Cup. More recently Glenfarclas 12 Years Old won Gold at the Stockholm Beer & Whisky Festival in 2007 and again in 2008.

Cynar is an artichoke based bittersweet liqueur known for its versatility and distinctive flavour; its taste is enriched by an infusion of 13 herbs and plants. The name of the drink derives from Cynar scolymus, the botanical name for artichoke, as artichoke leaves lend the distinctive flavour.

The secret recipe, which has remained the same since its creation, is based on some of the natural substances found in the artichokes, including ‘cynarine’.

Created by Angelo Dalle Molle, a Venetian entrepreneur and philanthropist, Cynar was launched in Italy in 1952. Since then, the brand has grown and is now distributed internationally.

Cynar became popular in Italy thanks to the first ads (during the Italian “Carosello”) performed by the famous actor, Ernesto Calindri and the claim “Cynar, against the attrition of modern life”.
