St. Sylvestre Gavroche French Red 11.2oz
Description
Beers must be sold by a minimum of 6 bottles - mix/match
When he went to the Brasserie St-Sylvestre about a year later, and sat face to face with the inscrutable brewer, Serge Ricour, and Serge said, ‘Why don’t you import Gavroche?’ Daniel said, ‘No thanks. Didn’t care for it.’ ‘Ah,’ said Serge. ‘But then you haven’t tried the real Gavroche.’ Intrigued, Daniel replied, ‘All right then, what’s the real Gavroche?’ Serge snapped his fingers, and it appeared: a lovely reddish beer, strong and flavorful, and buoyed by a live yeast culture in the bottle – one of the few bottle-conditioned, re-fermented beers of France. It was good -- very good, actually.
So here it is, the real Gavroche! As mentioned before, it’s red, it’s strong, it’s flavorful, and it’s lively as hell. If you don’t like it, you’re just prejudiced. To paraphrase an old advertising cliché: Don’t hate me because I’m French!
In case you’re wondering, the name Gavroche comes from the famous and timeless novel Les Miserables, of Victor Hugo. (It’s become rather big, in case you didn’t notice, as it’s been made into a Broadway play of the same name. We wouldn’t really know about that, since we can’t stand Broadway – aside from the classic guy’s musical, West Side-frickin’ Story – but apparently it really is a big thing.) Gavroche is the scruffy but generous little pick-pocketing urchin from the original story. The beer is also a little scruffy, and definitely generous. You’ll get what you need from La Gavroche." --importer
